Implementing Networked Lighting Controls (NLC) with Intelligent LED fixtures, Energy Design Engineers was able to reduce Motor City Stamping’s (MCS) carbon footprint by removing 1,504 Metric Tons of CO2 annually. The project reduces their monthly energy costs by over $18,000.00 compared to their legacy lighting. With the estimated lifeexpectancy over 20+ years for their new Smart Lighting, they’ve reduced their maintenance load and improved the plants working environment with increased light levels.
Additionally, EDE completed a compressed air leak audit with repair which identified and saved Motor City Stamping’s 1,389,991 kWh or $138,999.06 in energy costs. The Leak Audit cost was covered 100% by DTE Energy Incentives and will be completed annually in the future to further maximize MCS Energy Waste Reduction efforts.
