What the plant asked for — and what EDE delivered
With networked lighting controls and intelligent LED, EDE reduced Motor City Stamping’s carbon footprint by 1,504 metric tons of CO₂ annually and cut monthly energy costs by more than $18,000 compared with legacy lighting. Expected life is over 20 years, with less maintenance and higher light levels. EDE also completed a compressed-air leak audit and repair that identified 1,389,991 kWh, or $138,999, in energy cost. DTE Energy incentives covered 100% of the leak-audit cost; the audit will be repeated annually.
The energy savings exceeded what EDE told us we would get. After reviewing the electric bills for 90 days, all the project skeptics at our company started believing the numbers that EDE projected.
